Newly paired Malaysian shuttlers, Low Juan Shen and Tan Kian Meng have successfully made it through the next round of the Indonesian Open Grand Prix Gold, after defeating Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto and Afiat Yuris Wirawan yesterday.
The duo managed to conquer the match in straight sets, sealing a 21-11 and 21-19 win within 32 minutes. However, they will be facing world number nine pair Angga Pratama and Ricky Karanda, in the next round.
Kian Meng claimed that the pair played better than they did in the qualifying round and hoped that their success will be consistent till the end, or at least till the quarter finals.
“We want to keep on playing better tomorrow (today) even though we were only paired up last week for the Macau Open,” said Kian Meng after the match.
Compatriot Goh Soon Huat had also booked himself a match with Qiao Bin of China in the men’s singles section after obliterating Indonesian Riyanto Subagja in three intense sets 21-16, 20-22 and 21-13.
Soo Teck Zhi, also representing the country in the men’s singles section, too had advanced to the following round after securing a win over Indonesia’s Alvindo Saputra 19-21, 21-17 and 21-12. He will be facing Ye Binghong of China today.
Tee Jing Yi from the women’s singles had managed to outplay Indonesia’s Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto after two sets 21-16, 21-16. However, luck was not on Lim Yin Fun’s side as she suffered a defeat to host player Lindaweni Fanetri 15-21, 18-21.
