The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has confirmed that the upcoming Women’s World Squash Championship could be postponed due to alleged security concerns.
This year’s edition of the Women’s Worlds was set to be held in Malaysia from December 11 to December 18, before tournament promoters Hallmark Events Group recently alerted PSA of the undisclosed security concerns.
“The Professional Squash Association (PSA) can confirm that the staging of the 2015 Women’s World Championship is currently subject to doubt following an emailed recommendation from tournament promoters, Hallmark Events Group, to postpone the event, due to take place in Kuala Lumpur from Dec 11-18, amid alleged security concerns,” PSA said, though an official statement that was released on their website.
The governing body of squash went on to add that an independent consultant has been tasked with analysing the situation and that further clarifications would be made by the end of this week.
“The PSA have appointed an independent consultant to conduct a security review and expect to receive a risk assessment report by the end of this week. Until then no further comment will be made,” PSA added.
