Lee Chong Wei continued his tremendous form by claiming his third consecutive Super Series title after winning the Hong Kong Open earlier today.
The former world number one won the China Open title by beating Chen Long last weekend, and came into the final of the Hong Kong Open as a massive favourite as well. And he certainly did not disappoint by ousting China’s Tian Houwei to win the title.
Chong Wei claimed the first set 21-15, and carried the same momentum into the second set to wrap up a 21-16 win, to claim his third Super Series title of the year.
The Malaysian shuttler struggled for form earlier this year, after making a return from the doping saga in July.
Despite making the final of the World Championships, Chong Wei went to suffer early exits at the Korea and Japan Open, before formulating a comeback which culminated in his excellent form over the last two weeks.
His two triumphs will be a timely boost for his world rankings, with Chong Wei now sitting in sixth place, behind Victor Axelsen (5), Kento Momota (4), Lin Dan (3), Jan O Jorgensen (2) as well as Chen Long (1).
