Young water skier Aaliyah Yoong is setting her sights on finishing within the Top 20 bracket at the 2015 Waterski World Championships, which gets underway today.
The 12 year-old aspires to reach the final of the competition, though she does acknowledge the gulf in class that exists between her and other skiers – precisely why she’s happy to push for a Top 20 finish.
“I want to reach the final, so I can compete with the best to improve my performance. It’s going to be very challenging though, so I have to be careful,” she was quoted as saying by Bernama.
“My objective however is to gain more experience at the top-level and hope to break into the top 20,” she added.
Aaliyah is ranked 28th on the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s (IWWF) world rankings and she will be competition in the slalom as well as the tricks event in this competition.
