Moto2 rider, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah will undergo a minor surgery in Barcelona today after sustaining an injury during the crash that took place at the Valencia Grand Prix last week.
The 21-year-old rider was involved in a crash with several other riders on the opening lap, before he was rushed to the hospital by the medical team.
In the statement released by Petronas Raceline Malaysia, they confirmed that Hafizh has been transferred to a hospital in Barcelona, where he will be undergoing a surgery to address his fractured bones.
“The surgery will take place on Friday. After the surgery, Hafizh will be kept under observation in the hospital for one night. Once he gets discharged from the hospital, he will remain in Barcelona for a few days to aid the recovery process.
“The surgery is expected to speed up Hafizh’s recovery process and and allow him to regain the flexibility of his right arm.”
Hafizh is likely to return to Malaysia on November 18 and will continue his rehabilitation until he fully recovers for the 2016 season of MotoGP.
