I need to regain my confidence – LCW

It’s been a difficult period for Malaysian No. 1 Lee Chong Wei as he had to endure several early exits from the tournament recently.

The latest one is his second round exit at the Denmark Open as he lost to unseeded Wei Nan from Hong Kong 18-21, 19-21 at the Odense Sports Park.

After multiple recent setbacks, Chong Wei feels it is time for him to work on his confidence before fully focusing on future competitions.

“I didn’t play well at all and I was am far behind right now,” he told Utusan Malaysia.

“I have lost all my confidence but I want to forget this and now I’m trying to focus on the future and get back the confidence that I have lost,” he added.

This comes as the third early exit for Chong Wei in recent months, after he bowed out in the early stages of the Japan Open as well as the Korea Open last month.

It’s certainly a worrying sign for Malaysians, considering that Chong Wei has yet to book a spot for the Rio Olympics next year.
