The Y-TEQ SCK Honda Racing team has admitted that the absence of their star rider Mohd Zamri Baba has brought on a huge impact with three rounds left of the CP130 AAM Petronas Cub Prix Championship.
Zamri, one of nation’s talented riders, began his 2015 Cub Prix brilliantly, getting podium finishes and was expected to have a go at the individual honors as well as the overall championship.
However, he was forced to be on the sidelines after a horrific accident during the FIM Asian Motorbike Championships in Indonesia last June.
In his absence, SCK have failed to improve on their performances since round five, but still remain positive in the hunt for top three spot.
SCK Honda owner Soong Chee Kieong said: “Zamri is the leader to all the riders in the team. Both Norizman and him have the same amount of experience, but character wise, Zamri has the quality of a leader.”
“He has always been an encouragement to all, and his unavailability has been a big loss to us.”
“We all pray that he has a fast recovery,” he told Berita Harian.
For now, the SCK team is tied at third place with PETRONAS Yamaha-CKJ, with a total of 128 points.
