US Open: Delia Arnold suffers second round exit

Malaysian women’s squash player, Delia Arnold still searching for her first title this season after being knocked out in the second round of US Open Squash Championships 2015 in Philadephia, United States yesterday.

The 11th seed was unable to collect enough points as she lost to the third seed and world number four player, Camille Serme from France, 4-11, 6-11 and 4-11 in straight sets.

The defeat means Delia has lost all four meetings against Serme after she was defeated by the same opponent in the semis of the British Open recently.

The result also sees Malaysian squash queen and world no. 2 player, Datuk Nicol David as the only Malaysian player remaining in the tournament and she will be facing world junior champion and 12th seed Nouran Gohar from Egypt in the second round today.

Meanwhile, World No. 1 Raneem El Weleily is through to the quarter-final after beating Jenny Duncalf 4-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9 in 41 minutes and will compete against compatriot Nour El Tayeb tomorrow.
