Malaysian interim head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has hinted that he would most likely be utilizing JDT players to spearhead his offence department when they face Timor Leste in their World Cup qualifier tomorrow.
The Malayan Tigers returned to winning ways against Laos over the weekend, and Ong confirmed that he wouldn’t be tweaking the squad too much, claiming that the JDT attackers have a unique sense of understanding between them.
“I won’t be making too many changes to the squad, though I will be mixing old and new players,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
“We know the JDT players have an understanding, especially the likes of Kunanlan, Amri Yahya, Safiq Rahim as well as Safee Sali, as they train together most of the time,” he added.
Malaysia will head into this one on the back of their first victory in 2015, but Ong has urged his men to be cautious in their approach. According to him, Timor Leste’s batallion of naturalized players makes them a strong opponent to deal with.
“Timor Leste have got plenty of naturalized players, and these guys have valuabvle experience of having played in leagues that are way bigger than our leagues in Malaysia. I believe they wouldn’t be as strong if they didn’t have naturalized players on their squad,” he added.
