Japanese Grand Prix: Malaysian riders record career-best finish

National Moto2 riders Azlan Shah Kamaruzzaman and Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah recorded their best career finish at the Japan Grand Prix held at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit, yesterday.

Azlan, under Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, finished fourth with a time of 31 minutes and 35. 248 seconds, while Petronas Raceline Malaysia racer Hafizh ended one spot behind Azlan, with a time of 31:40. 758s.

According to Azlan, his finish was certainly above his expectations.

“In the early stages of the race, I almost lost control of my bike, and my tyres lost its grip. But I managed to hold on and I’m truly happy to be finishing fourth.”

Hafizh, on the other hand, also had problems with his back tyre, which forced him to take a big risk in the race.

“I expected to be competing with the lead racer, but my back tyre started to give me trouble. What matters here is I have collected a certain amount of points,” he told Utusan.
