Pahang FA defender Damion Stewart is relishing the opportunity to put their horrendous defeat against Penang behind and secure a morale-bosting win against PDRM tomorrow.
The Elephants were humiliated away from home last weekend, when they succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to Premier League runners-up Penang FA. But as far as Stewart is concerned, none of that would matter if they get back to winning ways on Saturday night.
“Definitely, we are looking to bounce back from that loss to Penang. At the same time, we’re also eager to continue collecting points and potentially help us seal a spot in the knockout rounds,” he told Harian Metro.
“A win would also repair our squad morale as it would strengthen our position on the group table. Right now, every team has a shot of making it to the quarters,” he added.
“Though we have two additional games after this weekend, I’m sure none of us wants to wait till the last hour before confirming our progression from the group.”
WHAT DO WE THINK?
Last week’s defeat was terrible, but we’re all compelled to think that it was a one-off thing. Pahang have been able to work their way through bad patches of form before, and right now, it’s merely about bouncing back from that defeat. Stewart is right, a win on Saturday night will force everyone to move on from the defeat. At the end of the day, the score line doesn’t matter as much as three points does.
