Mixed martial arts has been growing steadily in Malaysia over the past few years and with the ONE Championships returning to Malaysia this weekend, renowned fighter Peter Davis is absolutely raring to go.
The 34-year-old half Malaysian, who has an English father and a Sabahan mother, has been training four hours per day, in order to prepare for his upcoming fight against Australian, Adrian Pang. And he does not intend to not win on the night.
“I have been preparing carefully for this one. I sat through training camps in Thailand to work on Muay Thai, and I also trained with the Monarchy MMA,” he told FourthOfficial.com
“There was a lot of dieting as well. I only ate eggs and vegetables in recent times, to get myself into the best shape possible for the fight,” he added.
The former financial consultant also spoke about the growing interest for mixed martial arts in Malaysia. Peter remains focused on his career for the time being, but he’s also eager to help more fighters break into the international scene, considering there’s major interest within the country.
“In future, I would like to help upcoming Malaysian fighters get into the international scene, so they can push Malaysia’s name further.
“Fans love watching these fights. I think Malaysians enjoy mixed martial arts in general and I believe it can only get better,” he enthused.
Peter Davis has been involved in mixed martial arts since the age of 20, starting out with a Chinese martial art known as Wuji Chuan
He was initially working in London as a financial consultant, but as soon as his company closed down due to bankruptcy, Peter moved to Malaysia, where he ventured into modelling and acting, before finally settling down as an MMA fighter with One FC.
His match with Adrian Pang is slated to take place at the Putra Indoor Stadium in Bukit Jalil this weekend.
