Durakovic remains unperturbed despite Selangor’s inconsistency

Selangor may have had a topsy-turvy start in this year’s Malaysia Cup, but head coach Mehmet Durakovic sees no reason to hit the panic button just yet.

The Red Giants have only acquired three points from their first three games, and they’ve not won a home game yet, losing 3-0 to Kelantan in their first match, before drawing with Felda last weekend.

Their only victory of the competition came in an away match against T-Team, but Durakovic believes that it’s only a matter of time before they start scoring more goals.

“I’m not worried at all. We have been playing well, and you can see that the fans are happy with the way we’ve been playing,” he told Harian Metro.

“We just need to be more clinical in front of goal, and convert out chances successfully. It will come very soon,” he added.

WHAT DO WE THINK?

It’s difficult to buy into Mehmet’s rhetoric, but we can certainly understand why he’s doing it. It wouldn’t be surprising if their squad morale is relatively down at the moment, and the last thing Mehmet would ever want to do is drop criticisms to further deteriorate their confidence. Perhaps, they have been playing well. But none of that would matter if they don’t start winning games, because by the look of things, their chances of finally clinching the Malaysia Cup for 33rd time, isn’t too bright right now.
