Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) should be active in scouting for a suitable candidate for the national team head coach and not just rely on applicants, says Datuk Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad.
He responded towards the FAM decisions to advertise the national team head coach and Under-23 head coach position which is open to both foreign and local coaches to apply.
The former secretary-general of FAM said the job advertisement is not something new from FAM as they have done it in the past.
“For me this thing is not new because they have done it before when Allan Harris was the head coach. At that time, only foreign coaches can apply for the job but now they even allow the local coaches to apply as well.
“Even though the job was advertised publicly, at the same time FAM should work hard as well to find for a suitable candidate and not just picking from among the applicants,” he told Utusan Malaysia, yesterday.
The national team head coach will be temporarily held by Under-23 head coach, Ong Kim Swee for the remaining of World Cup Qualifying campaign this year.
