My future is undecided – Datuk Ong Kim Swee

Interim Malaysia head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee has reaffirmed his desire to focus on the national team for the time being, though his long-term future with FAM is undecided for now.

His contract with the Football Association of Malaysia will come to an end in December, and with FAM openly advertising for a new national team head coach, it remains to be seen if Ong remains with the governing body.

The ex-Malaysian international is certainly keen on the national team role, though he has not confirmed his desire to apply for the job.

“I have been with FAM for 10 years and I have never abandoned my duty despite ups and downs of our football.

“It would be a lie if I’m not interested. I can’t wait for long. Supposedly, in three months before my contract ends, I should be allowed to negotiate offers with other teams.

“It’s just that until now, my focus is on the national team duty, but I will make a decision later on,” he told Harian Metro, yesterday.

Ong’s men will continue their World Cup Qualifying campaign against Timor Leste (Oct 13), Palestine (Nov 12) and United Arab Emirates (Nov 17).
