It proved to be another long wait for Lee Chong Wei as the national badminton hero failed yet again to gain revenge against old rival Lin Dan of China, during the second round match of Japan Open.
The two time Olympic silver medalist had aimed at a promising outing in Japan after a series of failures, however, failed to convert his chances against his mighty opponent.
Chong Wei did well to take a 11-7 lead during the first set, but Lin Dan stormed back to win it 21-17.
The second set saw much of Lin Dan’s domination as he took his lead in the break and ended the tie 21-10.
This is the second time in a row Chong Wei has lost to a China player in a competition, the first being the World Championship final to current world no. 1 Chen Long.
