Vettel wants Monza record, determined to forget Belgian tragedy

Sebastian Vettel is on course to be the second driver to win the Formula One (F1) Italian Grand Prix with three different teams.

Vettel have won the Italian GP with Toro Rosso in 2008 and Red Bull in 2011 and 2013, and currently stand a chance to make it with his third team Scuderia Ferrari, equalling Stirling Moss record in 1956, 1957 and 1959.

This came few days after the tyre incident during the Belgian Grand Prix, which infuriates Vettel, ending his dream of making to the podium.

“Just to clarify this, my team and I are united in our strategies. I support everyone within the team and they do as well. This is what makes us a team.

“Our strategies have never been risky. So we don’t deserved to be blamed. We deserved to finish on the podium. However, this isn’t about our failure to end the race, this is about what happened on the day.

“As a driver, it’s not easy to accept it, even though it wasn’t as bad as the race at Silverstone a few years ago. Either way, it’s important that we communicate with one another, because that incident would not have happened, if an earlier warning was given.

The four-time Formula One World champion is currently third on the World Driver’s Championship standings at 160 points behind Lewis Hamilton who is currently first with 227 points and Nico Rosberg (199 points).-AFP
