Independent badminton player Zulfadli Zulkifli is reportedly close to joining Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) with discussions set to take place today.
He will be meeting representatives of the National Sports Council (NSC), who are keen to see him join BAM and use it as a platform to maximize his true potential.
Deputy President of BAM, Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria is hoping that NSC would be able to persuade Zulfadli to join BAM – a notion that has been supported by many, including Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
“Zulfadli has to realize that if he is serious about wanring to replace Chong Wei in future, he’s got to be with BAM,” he told Harian Metro yesterday.
“I hope the meeting will run smoothly, because right now, the decision is in their hands. ISN, BAM, and Chong Wei all want him to make the jump,” he said.
Zulfadli is yet to win a single title since winning the Asian Junior Singles, World Junior Singles and Youth Commonwealth Singles – all of which took place in 2011. He is currently ranked 36th on the BWF World Rankings.
