Injury-plagued shuttler Sonia Cheah is determined to give her badminton career one last try, before retiring from the sport for good.
The former national number one suffered an injury prior to the 2013 World Championship in Guangzhou, and since then, she’s struggled to get back to full fitness.
She briefly returned in February this year, before picking up another injury at the French Open in March. But Sonia is willing to to give in one last attempt, in 2016.
“I don’t want to stop just yet. It’s not the time yet. My family and the coachin staff have stood by me all along, it’s not time for me to give up,” she told Harian Metro.
“I will try one more time. My doctor also claims that I should be ready to compete next year,” she added.
Sonia is currently ranked 239th in the world, and her best finish this year was Iran International Open Challenge, where she made it to the quarter-finals.
