National head coach Dollah Salleh is suffering from a dilemma after two of his crucial players were ruled out from their World Cup 2018/Asia Cup 2019 qualifying campaign due to injuries.
Terengganu striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha and Perak defender Mohd. Idris Ahmad will be missing out for the Malayan Tigers, forcing Dollah to find replacements as soon as possible.
“The training session today (yesterday) was a mild one, as the players just ended their league action. Normal training will resume from tomorrow (today) onwards.”
“Unfortunately, two players shortlisted are unable to join us due to injury. Mat Yo (Norshahrul) has suffered a swelling on his left rib, while Idris has an injury on his Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL).”
“I do not wish to risk them early on, so I have discussed with the other coaches to obtain replacements.”
“What worries me is that I have not found a suitable candidate for the centre forward spot, which is important for the team. Hopefully this will be resolved by tomorrow (today),” said Dollah to Utusan.
Dollah also added that although his team has been performing below par in past matches, he stays optimistic and looks forward to his next opponents.
The Malayan Tigers will be facing Bangladesh in a friendly match at the Shah Alam Stadium, this Saturday, before leaving to Abu Dhabi to resume their World Cup 2018/Asia Cup 2019 qualifying campaign against United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 3rd of September.
