Defending champions Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) continued their fine form in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) after crushing Sapura 5-2 yesterday, in Bukit Jalil National Hockey Stadium.
It was a sixth consecutive win for Sarjit Singh’s side, therefore confirming their dominance en route to defending their title.
With three games left to play, team captain Mohd Shahrun Nabil Abdullah hopes his teammates don’t lose focus and strive towards consistency.
“We don’t have a choice other than getting all nine points from remaining matches if we want to be champions.”
“That means if we lose or draw those games, we have to fight till the final game,” Shahrun told Harian Metro.
THT showed why they were the team to beat in yesterday’s match, taking an early lead through Fitri Saari penalty corner.
Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin and Ismail Abu added to the early goal, making it 3-0 just before the break.
In the second half, Sapura came back to score two goals but THT dismissed any hopes of a comeback after Faizal Saari and Shahrun put the finishing touches to a strong victory.
