Usain Bolt proved why he’s undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes to have graced the sporting world, yet again, last night.
Never mind the fact that he holds the world record for 100m, but last night’s triumph meant far more than that. Justin Gatlin was billed as the favourite for this one, with Bolt having struggled for form over the last 12 months or so.
In fact, his performance in the semi finals was a clear indication of how Bolt was off his usual best in Beijing. Seven years ago, he was absolutely scintillating on those exact tracks. This time around though, he struggled.
But then came the final. He ran for his life. He wasn’t on form, he wasn’t the favourite, but he ran for his life. And that was enough to earn him a valuable victory on the day. As usual, Twitter exploded with reactions!
Reckon that was @usainbolt 's best World Champs win for two reasons – 1.True resolve under fire – 2.Gatlin's a cheat pic.twitter.com/e7PTG6JT1B
