In a dramatic twist of events, Chelsea gazumped over Manchester United to secure the signature of FC Barcelona’s Pedro, completing the deal yesterday.
Pedro was linked with United all summer, and was poised to join the growing coalition of hispanic players at Old Trafford, through Jose Mourinho’s last-gasp intervention convinced the 28 year-old to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge, instead.
Pedro is a versatile player, and there has been questions as to where he would fit in the current Chelsea squad. While he predominantly plays on the flanks, Pedro is able to play in the middle of the park, just behind the striker. Though it must be said that he is usually at his best, running rampant through the wings.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Willian being dropped to the bench, and Cuadrado maybe even leaving the club, as Pedro’s form in Barcelona suggests that he is far more effective than them when it comes to generating attack. Doubt it?
