Malaysian fans have taken to Twitter to express their support for Datuk Lee Chong Wei, after his defeat against Chen Long at the final of the World Championships earlier today.
Despite being one of the most celebrated athletes within the game, Chong Wei has never won a single World Championship title in his career, something that he was hoping to change in Jakarta this year.
He maneuvered his way into the final, beating the likes of Jan O Jorgensen along the way, but Chong Wei fell short against the reigning world number one in the final, losing 21-14, 21-17.
The defeat brought his ninth attempt at victory, to a crushing end, as Chen Long retained the title he won in Copenhagen last year. While the man himself was visibly frustrated after the match, Malaysian fans showered him with support throughout social media.
