Malaysian mixed doubles pair Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying are officially out of the World Championship after suffering third round exit in Jakarta.
Both individuals went up against 2013 World Champions, Tontowi Ahmad and Lilyana Natsir, and they struggled to cope with the boisterous atmosphere that backed the home team.
Tontowi-Lilyana seized the first set 21-8 and while the Malaysian pair provided a tougher fight in the second set, Tontowi and Lilyana proved to be too strong as they secured a 21-13 win to book their spot in the quarters of the competition.
This concludes their run at the World Championships – one that was initially out of question as they only qualified after the withdrawal of Guatemala’s Solis Jonathan-Nikte Alejandra Sotomayor.
