Malaysia will be breaking boundaries this weekend, as it is set to debut in the World Dodgeball Championship that’s being hosted in Las Vegas, USA this year.
The country will be represented by Immortals Dodge ball Club, who will be looking to maintain the country’s great run in the tournament, after booking their spot earlier by winning the National Dodge ball Championships (NDC) last year.
Women’s team captain, Yuna Cheah, commented about her teammates, saying that they are well prepared ahead of their meeting against teams from Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, France, Mexico and hosts United States.
“We have been preparing for the World Championships from the moment we won the NDC 10 months ago. I believe we are now set to go,” said Yuna, as stated in Bernama.
“This is our first time competing at the World Championships and everyone is looking forward to make a mark. Although it is likely we will be overpowered physically by our opponents, we are mentally very strong and believe we can achieve a podium finish.”
The flag handing ceremony to the Malaysian contingent took place yesterday, with National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Hamad Shapawi officiating it.
