Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva is on the verge of sealing a move away from Old Trafford, with French side Olympique Lyonais said to be close to securing his signature.
Since joining United in 2008, Rafael has made more than 100 appearances for the club, through his role within the squad was significantly affected by the arrival of Louis van Gaal.
Antonio Valencia was mainly used as the right back last season and the arrival of Matteo Darmian this summer means that Rafael’s future with the Red Devils could be coming to an end.
Benfica and Roma were both linked with a move for the Brazilian fullback, though it now appears that he could be set for a move to France. According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Rafael has agreed personal terms with Lyon, and both clubs are currently negotiating on the transfer fee.
Should everything go well, he could be announced as Lyon’s newest recruit within the next 48 hours or so.
