Cristiano Ronaldo may be the footballer that girls are drooling after now, but it all started with one man – a certain David Beckham.
It is no secret that David, apart from his football career, has been doing lots of charity work, serving the people in need.
The retired footballer was taking part in Ryan Seacrest’s new TV show, Knock Knock Live, which sees deserving families given cash and prizes as well as home visits from their favorite celebrities.
Most of the time just having David Beckham turn up at your front door would be an amazing gift itself, but Becks did more than that.
The Gonzalez family consists of the father who used to be a professional footballer in Mexico until he was forced to give up his job to work as a construction worker so that he could support his family.
Hearing about it, David made a surprise visit, which got an amazing response from the whole family.
Giving the family new iPhones and telling them their next 10 years of phone bills had been covered, he said, ‘’I’m here for a few reasons.’’
‘’One of the main reasons why I’m here is I was told about your family and I was very honoured to come down here and to be welcomed into your home and actually meet you one-on-one.’’
‘‘I’ve heard how much you work, I’ve heard what an amazing family together you are, you’re such a tight-knit family.’’
‘‘So thanks to my friends at Sprint, I have this for you,” he added as he gave the family an envelope with a cheque for $100, 000, which was followed with tears from all the family members.
Speaking after the emotional scenes, Beckham told Metro UK: ‘‘I’m very fortunate in my life, and to be able to do this for this family that works so hard, it is an amazing feeling.’
Then they all played a game of football, which was the icing on the cake for them all.
Well, David Beckham clearly has no plans to stop being one of our favorite people anytime soon.
