I need to remain level-headed – 15 year-old Goh Jin Wei

Even after winning the bronze medal at Singapore 2015 SEA Games and managing to reach the semi-finals of the recent Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Bangkok, Goh Jin Wei admits she doesn’t want her progress to get into her head.

The Penang born player is happy with her achievement in two of her previous tournaments even if she didn’t get into the finals.

“The two straight competitions I participated in gave me the belief, but I do not want to be over-confident until it disrupts my game,” said the 15 year old to Arena Metro.

Jin Wei, who is sitting for the Form Three Assessment (PT3) paper this year is raring to use her experience when she enters the Perak Open, this 25 to 30 July.

“My focus is back to national championships, especially the Perak Open. In this first appearance, however, I have not set my aim too high as recently I’ve been busy with my studies.”

At the same time, Jin Wei also hopes her stomach cramps will heal in time. According to her, it has been affecting her game play, and despite doctors confirming there aren’t any problems about it, she is relieved that Deputy President of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, promised to help her solve it.
