Sarawak will be looking to win SUKMA in 2016, according to Sarawak Minister of Social Development, Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom.
The East Malaysia state will host the SUKMA games in 2016, and are prepared to take necessary measurements in order to be champions.
“We will leave no stones unturned in our preparations when preparing our athletes and the various venues,” he said, as quoted by Bernama.
“Our new aquatics centre in Kuching is now 80 per cent completed and will be ready for the games and for our team’s training. I will be on the ground to regularly check on the various technical preparations.
“We are ready to spend money to hire outstanding foreign coaches where necessary. As of now, we are very confident of doing well. This is infect a mission we cannot fail as the host and the last time we were host was in 1990 when we emerged overall champion for the first time.” He added.
Sarawak’s new RM163 mil state-of-the-art aquatic centre is nearly completed in alliance with next year’s SUKMA games. It will be held in Sibu, Miri and Kuching, with a total of 24 sports.
