MHC: Nasihin will remain with national women’s hockey squad

Malaysian Hokey Confederation vice president Dr S Shamala has said that national women’s head coach Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim’s comments about ending his association with the national women’s hockey squad were just a “misunderstanding”.

“He is still committed to continue with the national squad. He was just misunderstood by the media,” Shamala said, as quoted by Harian Metro.

“I’ve personally asked him with regards to this matter.” She added.

Nasihin previously had said that he would not be renewing his contract with the MHC when it expires in December.

“It’s better for me to ‘travel’ to other teams. I’m thinking of Singapore or Indonesia. Even if Malaysia Hockey Confederation persuade me to stay, I will leave,” He was quoted saying.

“I started coaching the team since 2011. My contract ends in December and I have no intention to renew it. I just need a breath of fresh air and looking to improve on my coaching technique.”

Shamala though, has no doubt that Nasihin is the right man for the job as he galvanizes the women’s hockey team, and they are in a healthier condition under his leadership.

“As a former national player and have played at the Olympics, he always gave a strong commitment to its work.” She concluded.
