Nasihin Nubli will not continue his role as head coach of the women’s hockey squad when his contract expires this coming December
After coaching the national women’s team for 5 years, he feels that he needs a change of environment to test his coaching abilities.
“It’s better for me to ‘travel’ to other teams. I’m thinking of Singapore or Indonesia. Even if Malaysia Hockey Confederation persuade me to stay, I will leave,” he said as quoted by The Malay Mail.
“I started coaching the team since 2011. My contract ends in December and I have no intention to renew it. I just need a breath of fresh air and looking to improve on my coaching technique.”
He does feel optimistic about the current state of women’s hockey however, and believes that they also possess a healthy future.
“The current women’s squad is the best and it’s possible for them to play at the next World Cup if their continued participation in competitions is ensured”.
Under Nasihi, Malaysia successfully defended their gold medal at the SEA Games. They also created a world record by destroying Cambodia 36-0 at the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar.
