Walsh edges closer towards second stint with Speedy Tigers

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) are looking to appoint ex India coach Terry Walsh as their new technical director after National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail confirmed their intentions

There are no obstacles for us if they (The MHC) are interested in Walsh. The matter will be concluded in the committee meeting.

His employment is trivial to the national team‘s defeat in World Hockey League Semi Final,” he said as quoted by Harian Metro.

The 61-year-old has previously worked with the MHC, having been in charge of national team between 1990 to 1993.

He recently guided India to their first gold medal in 16 years at the 2014 Asian Games while his stint with the Australian national team won him the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the 1999 Champions Trophy and bronze at the 2000 Olympic Games. As the National coach of the Netherlands, he guided the team to finish second at the 2004 Olympics, winning silver in the process.
