Datuk Ong Kim Swee slams charges after 2-1 defeat to Brazil

Malaysia U23 head coach has lambasted his team for two costly errors that gave Brazil a 2-1 win over Malaysia in the 2015 Universiade tournament held in Gwangju, South Korea.

The Harimau Muda coach was disappointed that his side have nothing to show for, despite feeling that his side dominated play in large parts of the game.

“We controlled the play as planned but I am devastated with our mistakes, which is something that I cannot accept.

“It was either a stupid mistake or the players do not fully learned from their mistakes. They are not 13 or 14 years old. I won’t single out anyone one in particular, it’s clear that the one who gave away the penalty and free kick ultimately cost us. They’ve should’ve known better what to do in certain situations.” A visibly disappointed Kim Swee told reporters after the match in Gochang stadium, as quoted by Harian Metro.

Though he did not name any names, it is widely regarded that the player is midfielder Annas Rahmat was at the centre of the wrath of Kim Swee as he gave away the penalty by bringing down Jose Leao in the penalty box which forced the referee to have no choice but to point to the spot, which Brazilian Thaciano Da Silva duly converted to put Brazil 2-0 up.

Annas was also at fault for giving away the free kick that that resulted in Brazil’s first goal.

Although Malaysia managed to pull one back after Malaysia scored through a Shahrul Azwari Ibrahim penalty, the mistakes were fatal as it was not sufficient enough for a comeback.
