LCW could face Chen Long as early as quarters of Taiwan Open

National shuttler Lee Chong Wei could face the possibility of playing against Chinese top seed Chen Long as early as the quarter finals of the Taiwan Open that will commence from July 14 to July 19.

This would be one of the toughest matches Chong Wei will ever play since his comeback.

Due to his doping scandal, Chong Wei was given a provisional ban of eight months. Thus, his ranking had slid down a milestone and could enter the competition unseeded.

Chong Wei will face South Korean Kim Dong Wan in the opening match. The former number one is likely to face tenth seed Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia in the top 32 and may encounter a match with either sixth seeded Chinese Wang Zheng Ming or one of his old rivals, Sho Sasaki of Japan.

If the said predictions become a happening, then Chong Wei will take on an uphill battle in the quarters by facing Chen Long.

However, there is also a possibility of Chong Wei withdrawing from the tournament in order to witness the birth of his second child as his wife, Wong Mew Choo is scheduled to give birth next month.
