Just less than two weeks after securing a gold medal in the Singapore SEA Games, national shuttler Chong Wei Feng had failed to forward in the Canada Open Grand Prix Gold yesterday.
The national number one was defeated by Denmark’s Christian Lind Thomsen in the first round of the tournament.
Wei Feng could not maintain his momentum from the SEA Games and suffered a shocking lost as he was ousted in straight sets 15-21 and 20-22.
Meanwhile, 32 year-old Lee Chong Wei had successfully downed Canadian Antonio Li 21-16 and 21-9 to make it through the next round.
Chong Wei will be playing against Shi Yuqi of China in the second round.
