VIDEO: Hans Kristian Vittinghus secures astounding badminton point

He knew he was losing, and he did whatever he could to earn a that game point.

Recently in the US Open Grand Prix Gold, national badminton star Lee Chong Wei had to battle Denmark’s Hans Kristian Vittinghus to seal the ultimate title and grant him his first international win since a 12-month drought.

However, it was during the first set of the match that led the audience stood up from their seats. When Chong Wei led 20-19 against Vittinghus, the Dane started to feel a little frisky, partially because he knew that he was going to lose if he did not focus and that led to a wonderful, jaw-dropping rally.

Vittinghus did his best to maintain his momentum by keeping his pace in the start of the rally before he tried to sneak a win with a smash, but Chong Wei was sharp enough to make a return even though he fell while doing so.

He tried to do it again but just when he thought he won the rally, Chong Wei still proved himself powerful delivered a back hand that sent the shuttlecock flying high. Vittinghus ran to the back just in time before it hit the ground and made a hit between his legs and that earned him his game point alongside the cheers of the crowd.

The rally was intense and certainly entertaining. It was definitely a fashionable way to gain a badminton point.

Despite the effort, Chong Wei eventually won the first set 22-20. Thumbs up to Vittinghus though!
