Despite winning the US Open Grand Prix Gold on Monday, there are still several aspects that former world number one Lee Chong Wei need to fix and improve.
National singles coach, Hendrawan, has stated that even though the US Open only held the status of Grand Prix Gold, it was good enough that Chong Wei could make a great comeback after being inactive due to his suspension of eight months as he failed his doping test.
“If you look at the finals of the US Open, Chong Wei still has not achieved his best form,” said Hendrawan as quoted from Harian Metro.
“Maybe because it has been eight months since he played, the feeling has become less.”
“I also saw that he made some mistakes.”
Hendrawan hopes that Chong Wei is able to improve his form to play in the Canada Open today.
“Maybe he needs more time to get back to his real form.”
Chong Wei will be playing against Antonio Li of Canada in the first round today.
