SEA Games: Gold medal guaranteed in women’s doubles

Malaysian women’s doubles pairs Vivian Hoo- Woon Khe Wei and also Soong Fie Choo- Amelia Alicia Anscelly have made it past the semi finals the 2015 SEA Games yesterday and are set to play against each other in the finals today.

Both pairs had ousted their Indonesian opponents in straight sets. Vivian and Khe Wei defeated the Anggia Shitta Awanda and Mahadewi Ni Ketut 21-12 and 21-11 whereas Fie Choo and Amelia downed Maretha Dea Giovani and Suci RIzki Andini 21-16 and 23-21.

Malaysia is now guaranteed two gold medals in both the women’s doubles event and men’s singles event.

A third medal could emerge as Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying successfully knocked off world no.9 Riky Widianto and Puspita Richii Dili of Indonesia 21-18, 18-21 and 22-20 to advance to the finals.

The two will face eleventh seeds Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto, also from Indonesia for the ultimate gold medal.
