Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah showed her excellent performance once again in the 28th SEA in Singapore by securing her second gold medal in the women’s water ski overall final at the Bedok Reservoir yesterday.
The eleven year-old completed her three routines- trick, slalom and jump- to collect a total of 2155.56 points. The silver medal was handed to Indonesia’s Nor Alimah Prambodo with 1553.58 points whereas bronze was given to Singapore’s Kalya Marissa Kee with 1408.38 points.
“I feel very proud because I did my personal best in jumps and slalom. I also achieved my target of two gold medals,” said Aaliyah as quoted from The Malay Mail.
“I want to thank all those who supported me- parents, team and friends. I hope to win at least three gold medals in the next SEA Games hosted by Malaysia,”
Aaliyah had also bag a gold medal in the women’s trick event and silver in the women’s jump event.
Meanwhile, her step-brother Alex Yoong secured a silver medal in the men’s overall event with 2,198.69. The event was ultimately won by Indonesia’s Febrianto Kadir of Indonesia with 2217.69 points whereas his compatriot Hermana Ade grabbed the bronze medal with 2073.21 points.
