The diving team has presented yet another two gold medals in the third day of the event in the OCBC Aquatic Centre yesterday.
Duo Ng Yan Yee and Nur Dhabitah Sabri dominated the 3m women’s springboard when they topped the list with 292.62 points, ousting Singaporean pair Fong Kay Kian and Ashlee Yan Yi Xuan who claimed the silver medal with 242.92 points. The bronze medal was presented to Hoang Le Thanh Thuy and Ngo Phuong Mai of Vietnam who scored 227.94 points.
“We are so happy with our accomplishment today (yesterday) because this is the first time me and Dhabitah were paired up for the SEA Games,” said Yan Yee after the event.
“I think it is a great start before we face the Diving World Series later on.”
This is the second gold medal for Dhabitah, following her success in the Myanmar SEA Games two years ago.
“What makes this special is that this is the first gold medal that I’ve won with Yan Yee.”
“I thought that there were a few flaws that we could improve, especially the chemistry between us. However, I believe that a lot of aspects have improved compared to before.”
“Nonetheless, the opponents were strong and the divers from other countries did well. It did pressure me a little,” she added.
Apart from that, Ooi Tze Liang continued his faultless display of skills by bagging his third gold medal through the 10m platform with 415.50 points, whereas the silver medal was handed to compatriot Chew Yi Wei who earned it with 393.65 points.
