SEA Games: Swimmer Phee Jing En strikes gold in debut act

The Malaysian team has been consistent in tackling the gold medals at the SEA Games and swimmer Phee Jing En is not at all excluded.

The national swimmer, who is making her SEA Games debut this year, produced an excellent performance in the 100m breast stroke event yesterday and finished with a time record of 1m 10.47s to secure the gold medal alongside breaking her personal record.

Jing En also defeated compatriot Christina Loh Yen Ling who won the event in the Myanmar SEA Games two years ago. Christina stood fifth place overall.

“I just wanted to do my best and after I saw the scoreboard and my name came out as the champion, I was so happy,” said Jing En as quoted from Kosmo.

“What gave me motivation was my record before this and also the fact that Malaysian was the champion for this event two years ago in Myanmar.”

“I am so happy because all my hard work has seen its result.”

“I’m satisfied with my time record but I believe that I can create a faster record.”

“I joined the national team a year ago, this escalated quickly for me but I’m happy that I was able to prove myself.”
