The Malaysian wushu team has successfully contributed two gold medal’s for the nation at the 2015 SEA Games.
Loh Jack Chang won the first gold medal through the Taijiquan event with a stunning score of 9.71 points. Silver medal was handed to Singaporean Samuel Tan Wei Han with points of 9.69 whereas bronze was secured by Indonesia’s Julis Yoga Kurniawan with 9.67 points.
He was seen rejoicing after his success and was delighted that he could accomplish the squad’s target of bringing home at least one gold medal.
“The wushu competition these days are different compared to before because the skill level of each country is improving. There is nothing that can be done except to improve your own,” said the 28 year-old as quoted from Kosmo.
“The pressure is there but we need to strengthen ourselves mentally to do the best.”
“This is my second gold medal after the 2007 SEA Games in Laos. I would like to thank everyone that gave me their support.”
The national women’s team comprising of Audrey Chan Yee Jo, Chan Lu Yi and Anggie Cheah Ruey Shin served up the second gold medal in the Duilian event yesterday. The trio amassed a total of 9.65 points overall, defeating runner-up Myanmar who garnered 9.58 points and third place Laos who scored 9.57 points.
“I’m happy and surprised with our younger exponents who had shown good progress. I’m also quite surprised that we finally managed to claim two gold medals on the last day of wushu competition,” said coach Lim Yew Fai after the event yesterday.
“I’m happy with the gold medal that we won in the women’s duel event — bare hand because we normally focused on the individual events,” he added.
The wushu team have presented a final of two gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
