French Open: Murray breezes into second round

Andy Murray is on a run to bid for his first ever French Open title after defeating Facundo Arguello in the first round yesterday.

The third seeded Scot has yet to be defeated as a married man on the clay court. He continued his winning streak on clay as he won defeated the Argentinean on straight sets to take his record to 11-0.

Murray secured the first two sets with 6-3 before downing Arguello in the third set calmly with 6-1 just under 26 minutes to end the game.

“I was pretty nervous, first round matches at the major competitions are always tough and it was quite windy and the conditions were pretty difficult. I don’t mind nerves, it shows you care and you want to do well,” said Murray after the match.

“The first set I didn’t feel like it was great.”

“I felt like it was difficult. The start was very windy on the court and cold, so it was quite slow conditions. I found it difficult at the beginning.

“When the wind died down a bit in the second and third set, I felt that the level of tennis was better.”

Murray will face either Canadian Vasek Pospisil or Portuguese Joao Sousa, who are set to play aginst each other today.
