We’re not good enough yet – Peng Soon

Despite putting in a sterling performance at the 2015 Dongguan Sudirman Cup, national mixed doubles shuttler Chan Peng Soon is not completely satisfied with his form.

Peng Soon claims that he is yet to achieve his best form, though he did point out that the chemistry between him and Goh Yiu Ling seems to be improving and that it helped them defeat the eighth seeded South Korean pair Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Han Na in the opening match

“I admit that the chemistry between me and Liu Ying is getting better. I also feel that our skills have improved before Liu Ying was injured,” said Peng Soon as quoted from Kosmo.

Peng Soon and Liu Ying aided the nation to a 3-2 win against South Korea in the group stage but they did not have a chance to compete in the quarter-finals as Malaysia were condemned to a 3-1 defeat.

The pair, ranked 71st according to the Badminton World Federation, (BWF) will be taking part in the upcoming Australian Open Super Series next week before heading off to Singapore for the SEA Games.

“Although the coaches (Tan Kim Her and Chin Eei Hui) were satisfied with our performances in the Sudirman Cup but I feel that there are many places that we need to work on, like agility and endurance,” he added.

“There are possibilities for us to appear in the Olympics for the second time but we need to achieve better results in every tournament. Cooperation with the coaches is very important because we need to garner more points to improve our ranking.”
