Audi rejects Formula One rumours

Audi has ruled out the possibility of them joining the Formula One in the near future; which comes as a massive dent to the survival hopes of Red Bull Racing.

Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko recently proposed the idea of establishing a partnership with Audi to guarantee their continued stay in the sport, considering that the Renault engines have not been doing well this year.

“If we don’t have a competitive engine in the near future, then either Audi is coming or we are out,” Marko stated earlier this month.

The idea was strongly opposed by former Audi chairman Ferdinand Piech due to personal reasons but chief executive Ruper Stadler initially keen on the idea

However, it now appears that Red Bull’s aspirations have been crushed with Stadler changing his mind. According to German daily Handelsblatt, Stadler claimed that “Formula One should solve its own problems.”

This news will come as a massive blow for Red Bull and their future in the Formula One spectrum depends on their ability to find a replacement for the engine.
