After producing a stunning act in the Sudirman Cup held in Dongguan last week, mixed doubles duo Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying are now targeting to climb to the top ten of the BWF world ranking by the end of the year.
The pair, currently ranked 71st in the world presented a remarkable performance to aid the Malaysian team’s voyage to the quarter-finals, after defeating South Korea and India in the group stages
Liu Ying claims the target they have set is not an easy task though it’s not impossible to achieve as long as they advance to the semi finals in most of their tournaments for this year.
“The challenge to improve our ranking is not too hard because many of the international mixed double pairs are in the same level as us apart from the top 4,” said the 26 year-old as quoted from Utusan.
“If we continue our form just like in the Sudirman Cup, we could achieve a higher ranking.”
“I need to work harder and be more cautious with leg injuries as the next tournament is approaching soon.”
Last week, Peng Soon and Liu Ying played faultlessly in Dongguan as they sent shock waves by defeating Korean duo Ko Sunghyun and Kim Ha Na in their opening match before defeating India’s Sikki Reddy and Arun Vishnu.
