Lee Chong Wei return to action is being widely celebrated by all Malaysians, but the man himself faces a tough challenge ahead of the upcoming Sudirman Cup.
He has been appointed captain of the national squad, and Chong Wei is hoping to recover his magic touch and groom himself into form, in order to ensure a strong performance from Malaysia.
“The training camp for the Sudirman Cup is already underway but some players have not showed up yet, including men’s doubles duo Tan Wee Kiong and Goh V Shem,” he was quoted as saying by Kosmo.
“Even though there are a few more days left before we leave for Dongguan, I still believe that we’d be able to turn on the style this year.
“As a senior player, my performance will be the focus of many, especially after the doping scandal. My duty this time around, will be a little tough because I have to work and try to restore the winning atmosphere within the team. I will try my best, regardless of anything.”
Malaysia will be in Group 1D, alongside South Korea and India.
