Munich Open: Murray claims first clay-court title

Andy Murray has finally won his first ever clay-court title after securing a victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the final of the Munich Open.

The British tennis star came into the final, bidding to secure his 32nd career title, but he was made to work his socks off for it. The tie initially took place on Sunday but with the German leading 3-2 in the first set, the match was called postponed due to bad weather.

When it resumed on Monday, Murray eventually rallied back to win the set 7-6 (7-4). But his German opponent bounced back in the second set, to eventually win it 7-5 and drag the match into a decider.

The final set was a close battle with both players pushing hard; not allowing a single break point, before Murray eventually clinched it on a tie-breaker.

Both men could potentially meet again when the Madrid Masters gets underway later this week.
