Former Swedish tennis ace Jonas Bjorkman is set to replace Amelie Mauresmo as Andy Murray’s coach on a full-time basis throughout the summer.
Mauresmo is currently expecting her first child, which is reportedly due in August. Hence, Murray swooped to secure the services of Bjorkman.
According to BBC Sport, the partnership will see Murray prepare for Wimbledon under Bjorkman’s tutelage, and should things go well, he will be willing to extend the deal until the US Open in September.
“Then I’ll see what happens with Amelie because I don’t think she knows what her priorities are going to be and how she wants to deal with things so we’ll just see for a few months.” Andy Murray was quoted as saying by the BBC.
The 43 year-old Bjorkman will start his new role from this week’s BMW Open in Munich.
